As I care for many elderly clients, I realize how important it is to stay mobile, maintain independence, and enjoy life as I get older. To support this, I’ve joined a beginners club with some wonderful women who help keep me accountable. Even though I love walking and do quite a bit of it, I understand the importance of reaching my peak fitness as I grow older. That’s why I’ve also started weight training and tried yoga last night. When I took on the role of a carer, I never imagined how much it would impact my life in such a wonderful way. From the very beginning, I loved every moment. Spending 10 years in the care industry has introduced me to so many like-minded people who have become dear friends. Each new client feels like a new chapter, and I find joy in helping to make their lives a little easier—whether it’s doing small chores, preparing tasty meals, or simply sharing a big smile when I walk through the door. We laugh and joke, becoming friends as we chat about what's going on in our lives, sharing stories from the past day or week. There’s so much to love about making a real difference—not just in our clients’ lives, but in ours as well. Every kind word and thank you from their families truly means the world to us here at Red Robins Companions. We have been caring for our beloved Joan for nearl

We have been caring for our beloved Joan for nearly three years, during which she's faced many challenges like not being able to walk properly, a broken shoulder, and sudden, unexplained illnesses. Despite these hurdles, we've managed to help Joan get back on her feet because she prefers to stay out of a care home. We've been working together to encourage her to do her exercises, helping her regain mobility, and taking her to hospital appointments. We also make sure she lifts her feet when walking and eats and drinks enough to stay healthy. Her incredible determination, cheerful attitude, and love for life and companionship truly shine through, keeping her happy and safe at home. Joan continues to walk every day, enjoy trips out, and go shopping each week with one of us.
